What is a Life Coach?

A coach is like a navigator. Whilst you are firmly sat in the driving seat of your own life, a coach sits next to you, in the passenger seat and helps guide you to your destination. Trying to get somewhere new in your life (such as getting that promotion, losing that weight or finding your dream partner) can feel like driving in a new city, for the first time, without a map or directions. This means you have to guess a lot and you make some wrong turns, have to backtrack and then try again a different way. It’s easy to get lost, you feel super stressed and frustrated and you waste a lot of time having to stop and ask for directions. A coach however is like having your very own personal tour guide. They have the map and they have the experience… they know where the roadblocks tend to be and how best to navigate around them. They also know the shortcuts. Additionally, a coach can help you reach your full potential. It can be tempting to stick to the main roads that you know (to stay in your comfort zone) because venturing out into unknown territory is usually scary. But… by sticking to the main road, you can miss so many opportunities. A coach can help support you on your journey which means less stress for you, giving you more time to relax and enjoy the ride.

What is Life Coaching? And how is it different from Counselling?

Whilst counselling / therapy focuses primarily on the past and looking backwards, life coaching puts much more emphasis on the future. Where would you like to be? Who do you want to become? What would you like to achieve? Whilst I have experience in both camps (and as both a client and as a guide), I have such a deep love for coaching. I believe that counselling absolutely has a place and can be incredibly valuable for the right person, at the right time but I just love the positivity of coaching.  Counselling aims to reduce your negative feelings. Perhaps you begin your sessions feeling that your depression / anxiety / stress level is around a 7/10. A counsellor will try to bring you further down the scale with the absolute ultimate goal of getting you to a 0/10. A zero? Now this is perhaps adequate from some people. I can understand how it would even be desirable for those that are suffering and struggling to escape the fog. But for me personally… zero is no-where near good enough. I want to live an extraordinary life, filled with love and joy. I want to laugh, learn, give, grow and contribute. I don’t just want to be a zero. A want the full human experience. We are all heading to the same destination but until my heart stops beating, I intend to live as fully as possible with as much fun and passion along the way as I can create! What is it that you want? Is your aim to be a zero? Are you just looking at reducing your discomfort? Or do you have bigger dreams? If you have a goal and you are future-focused, coaching may be the better option for you!

How can Anne Robertson Life Coaching help me?

Whilst my primary focus tends to be on romantic love, ultimately, I am a relationship coach, whether you want to focus on your relationship with your intimate partner, your relationship with your children, your relationship with your finances, your relationship with your body or your relationship with your mind, it is all inter-connected. At the heart of everything, is the relationship you have with YOURSELF!General life coaching focuses on clarifying goals (what do we want and why do we want it) and then looks to create manageable steps to achieving those goals (how are we going to realise them).Coaching helps you identify the blocks that are holding you back and getting in your way. It can then help you create strategies to overcome these obstacles and break-through.And whilst this can all be useful, Anne Robertson Life Coaching puts more of an emphasis on WHO you want to become (as opposed to what you want to achieve). So instead of focusing on building a business, we would focus on how you become an entrepreneur. Instead of focusing on snagging your dream partner, we would focus on who you need to become to attract the relationship that you desire. Instead of focusing on doubling your income, we would focus on shifting your identify to be financially abundant.By focusing on the WHO as opposed to the WHAT, we can create long-term lasting change (and get exactly what we want).

What are the benefits of having a Coach?

What are the downsides of Life Coaching?

Sometimes clients can become overly reliant on their life coach and develop a dependency. This is the complete opposite ethos of Anne Robertson Life Coaching… in my practice, whilst I of course offer guidance and support, I am here to instil independence and self-empowerment. I firmly believe that we are all in the driving seat of our own lives and that cultivating self-reliance is absolutely paramount. My programs are shorter than many other coaching packages because they are so transformational - you will quickly find yourself becoming more resourceful and able to deal will new situations more effectively, as they arise. All of the answers are already inside of you!

What are your Credentials?
  • I am a certified life & success coach!
  • I have had hundreds of hours of training.
  • I have decades of experience.
  • I care so deeply about my clients and up cycling their lives so I work super hard to learn anything extra that I need to know.
  • I have an insatiable thirst for knowledge in the personal development field (I love learning so I’m constantly reading new books, attending events and completing new courses).I’ve always been fascinated by psychology: thoughts; feelings; motives and literally all things mind and behaviour related. My father was studying psychology with the Open University when I was a little girl and I have no doubt that this is what initially piqued my interest.

I began my own official studies in 2001… I remember my first ever lesson when I was introduced to René Descartes's concept of “Cogito, ergo sum” (I think, therefore I am). My curious mind was hooked instantly and my life-long love affair with the brain began.

I went on to study more psychology in 2004 and then completed a counselling course in 2006.

Later on, I started searching for a deeper spiritual meaning and I found so much joy in a variety of courses including: meditation, colour therapy, sound therapy, affirmations and visualisations for a positive life, crystals for health and well-being, mindfulness (a focus on the senses), balancing the chakras, creative writing, mental and physical relaxation, complementary therapies, mental health for children and young people, aromatherapy, understanding nutrition and health, various personal growth workshops & seminars (including numerous Tony Robbins events), elemental meditations, Feng Shui, affirmations, numerology, crystals and colour therapy, body language, story telling with tarot etc etc.In 2020, I stumbled upon life coaching and knew instantly that this was my calling. I enrolled, studied intensely and graduated two years later as a Jay Shetty Certified Life and Success Coach.

I now run my own practice which encompasses all that I have learned (and am continuing to learn on this beautiful life journey) and all that I have experienced so that I can help my clients to the very best of my ability.
What happens during a Life Coaching session?

Usually, sessions last between 45 minutes and an hour and are conducted via video call.

It is normal for some sessions to be more transformative than others but you will always feel seen and heard as I ask you questions about your goals, your dreams and any problems that are standing in your way.

All sessions are completely confidential so that you can explore your thoughts and feelings privately. They are a safe space, completely free from judgement.

You will be supported and respected but please also be prepared to be challenged. You may find some questions difficult but these are necessary for developing self-reflection (an invaluable life skill) so that you can explore yourself to the fullest and identify exactly who you really are and exactly what you really want.

Your boundaries will always be respected but you will need to be willing to go outside of your comfort zone in order for you to grow and change in positive, healthy and transformative ways.I am not here to force you to change or to tell you what to do. I will only ever offer advice if you ask for it. My goal is to support you on your journey to becoming who you want to be.

You will get the most from the sessions if you can keep an open mind and communicate as honestly as possible.

All sessions are different… they might include a mediation, a visualisation or some EFT (tapping). They might include an exploration with a tarot card. There are many different modalities that we can use to unlock your subconscious mind and find the answers you are looking for. We will use whatever works best for you./>

What’s so special about Anne Robertson Life Coaching?

I have integrated all of my expertise into my coaching practice, drawing from my countless studies, my vast experience and my ever-expanding intuition.

Sometimes my sessions include guided mediations and visualisations; sometimes I introduce some EFT (tapping) and sometimes we have little mini dance parties. All sessions are different and unique because all of my clients are different and unique.

Every session is a collaboration - we work together to get the best results. Sometimes we dig deep into shadow work or spend some time on inner child healing but we only ever do what you are comfortable with.

I learned very early on that whilst our basic human needs are the same, we have different priorities, our brains work differently and as a result of our own personal experiences, we are all completely unique. As such, what works for some, will not work for others. And this is why I have studied so many different modalities.

I am able to offer a wide variety of complimentary tools (meditations, visualisation, soul work etc) which blend in beautifully with the generic coaching tools (Neuro-Linguistic Programming, goal setting, identifying strategies and creating steps to achieve them and uncovering success blocks and implementing techniques to overcome them and move forwards).

Often, we need to dig below the surface to get to the root of our issues. Our success blocks tend to be rooted in our subconscious mind and that’s why they are a struggle for us… because we are not consciously aware of them. We each have our own identity, made up of beliefs and values that influence our perception and decision-making. Limiting beliefs are these that hold us back and stop us from doing what we want to do or getting to where we want to be.

Many of our core beliefs are formed before the age of 7. Additionally, we accumulate a lot of beliefs that although they might have been valuable and necessary at the time (perhaps they were needed to protect us), the beliefs are no longer serving us (and not only are they outdated and no longer helpful, they are actually hindering us).

Anne Robertson Life Coaching delves deep into uncovering the ingrained limiting beliefs that impede our growth. Once we are aware of them, we can acknowledge them, be grateful for how they have helped us in the past and then gently release them. We then have the space to replace our belief with a new, upgraded, positive one that will transform our life.

My super special, secret ingredient, for creating massive change!

“So is this just another goal-setting exercise?” you might ask…definitely not!! Anne Robertson Life Coaching is soooo much more than SMART goals. In fact, I have uncovered a massive secret about goals and why we so often fail to achieve them (or feel unfulfilled when we do). Hitting a goal can feel great initially but the feeling is almost always short-lived.

Whilst goals are great for setting a direction, I have developed a tried-and-tested, proven system for actually making progress and creating permanent change.

Achieving a goal is a momentary change (such as hitting a certain weight goal) and as such, so many of us fall back into old habits once we have hit our goal (perhaps we revert back to our old ways of eating). With my approach however, we move the focus elsewhere and as a result, we can start being happy immediately, we can enjoy the journey, we still hit our goal and we instil long-lasting, permanent change.

I can’t wait to share this secret with you… click here to book your completely free, no-obligation chemistry call. I promise to share the secret strategy with you, regardless of whether we decide to work together or not!

What is a Chemistry Call?

Chemistry calls (done via video call) typically last 40-60 minutes. It gives us time to get to know each other a little better. I can answer all of your questions and we can have a little mini session so you get an understanding of what coaching is all about.

At the end of the chemistry call, we decide if we would like to work together. If I don’t feel like I can help you and make a huge difference to your life, then I will say so. And equally if you feel like I am not going to be the right coach for you, that is perfectly fine too.

Whatever we decide however, I promise to share with you my super special, secret ingredient, for creating massive change (click here to find out more about this). My chemistry calls have always been, and will continue to be, completely complimentary (free of charge). For me, it’s always been about feeling. Whilst something can sound great on paper, it has to feel right. Our instincts are never wrong and we must listen to our gut.

I urge you to do the same. What is your gut telling you? Now might not be the right time for you and that is perfectly fine. In the words of Louise Hay “everything you need, comes to you, in perfect time, space and sequence”.

But if you are ready to start living the life you know you are supposed to be living, please send me a message (contact form) and I’ll send you a link for my availability so you can book in at a time that suits your best.

If you have any other questions, please drop me a message here and I'll get back to you with an answer very soon.
